VERGNE HAPPY TO QUALIFY

The Toro Rosso driver Jean-Eric Vergne has said that he is extremely happy to have achieved his best qualifying position since the season opener at the United States Grand Prix recently. The Toro Rosso driver secured 14th place in the qualifying session, which is a source of great relief to him. He has said that the team has been working a lot towards improving the qualification aspect of the car, and the 14th place qualification is a reward to their work. Jean-Eric Vergne has said that there is a remarkable difference within the car over the last few races, which have helped him to get the best out of the car.

His performance was also complemented by the comments of the chief engineer, Laurent Mekies. Sauber and Rosberg were the main competitors for Toro Rosso in this race, and Laurent Mekies said that he could not have been more satisfied with the qualifying session especially given the troubles Jean-Eric Vergne faced during the early part of the session. After coming into contact with another car, Jean-Eric Vergne have to spend a considerable amount of time in the pits. Vergne has also said that he is not too concerned about beating his teammate in the qualifying sessions.

“I think the team has worked well so far this weekend to produce a car that seems a bit more competitive than in the past few races. Maybe I could have got a bit more out of the car this afternoon, perhaps found a couple of tenths. I obviously lost some track time and without that, I might have had a better understanding of the tyres,” said Vergne after the impetus for qualifying performance in the United States Grand Prix that put him on the 14th position on the grid for the start of the race.

TOUGH PERFORMANCE

The Toro Rosso F1 team drivers Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniel Ricciardo have said that it will be extremely tough for the team to match the performance that they put in at the Korean Grand Prix last weekend. The teams will be taking part in the Indian Grand Prix during the weekend. Many drivers have actually praised the Indian Grand Prix by saying that it is one of the best in the F1 calendar, despite being introduced only last season. Due to the fast nature of the circuit, both Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniel Ricciardo think that it will be tough for them in this race.

Toro Rosso have been struggling through the season in order to match the reliability and pace of the teams ahead of them. They have been able to claim just 21 points in the constructors championship. As a result, it is highly unlikely that they will be challenging Williams, who have 59 points on the board with only four races remaining. Toro Rosso cars finished in the eighth and ninth position at the Korean Grand Prix last weekend. However, this will be difficult to repeat according to both the Toro Rosso drivers. Daniel Ricciardo has said that the team could have achieved a slightly better qualifying position.

“I’m not saying Korea was easy, but it was definitely easier than what we have had previously. I think we’ll probably have to work a bit harder for it this weekend. I still believe points are possible, but the pace seems to be more evenly spread across the field. It’s a tough one. A lot of the times lately we seem to surprise ourselves with the pace, so I guess there’s good reason it could happen again tomorrow,” said Daniel Ricciardo ahead of the Indian Grand Prix during the weekend.
